In the structural design business area, we provide structural design services for railway facilities and their peripherals during the following stages:

• Power supply systems
• Catenary systems

With the preparation of complete, implementation-ready solutions, we provide the support required for new build and upgrading projects, modernisation, maintenance and repair of main lines and branch lines. We also co-ordinate the efforts of all those involved in the design project. For the command and control technology, electrical engineering, lightning protection and earthing systems, we have planning inspectors approved by the Federal Railway Authority (EBA).

One example taken from the range of services we provide

The structural design business area of DB Bahnbau GmbH since 1999 has also been responsible for planning the electrical engineering systems for the GSM-R Base Station Controllers (BSC), Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and regenerators being installed on the DB AG network.

An important prerequisite in this case was the development of GSM-R power supply distribution systems to obtain type approval from the Federal Railway Office and the development of a 950V standard network to supply power over long distances to the GSM-R stations.

The services are commissioned by DB Netz AG N.VIX4.

To date, a total of

• 10 BSCs,
• approx. 2,700 BTSs and
• approx. 450 regenerators have been planned.

In addition, overall earthing plans for

• 7 BSCs,
• 1,750 BTSs and
• 380 regenerators have been prepared.

950V networks have been planned for approx. 200 problem locations.
