What data do we collect and how and why do we process your data?

We collect and process your data for specific purposes only. These may relate to technical necessities, contractual requirements, or explicit user wishes.

For technical reasons, however, we must collect and store specific data when you visit www.bahnbaugruppe.com. This data includes, for example, the date and duration of your visit, the web pages you used, the identification data of the browser and operating system type in use and the website from which you came to visit us.

We store and analyze user data obtained from online sources so that we can continually improve our offering. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (f) of the GDPR.

Newsletter registration
If you sign up for one of our newsletters, the e-mail address will be collected as mandatory information.

When you register for a newsletter, we store the IP address assigned by the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to your end-user device used at the time of registration, as well as the date and time of registration. The collection of this data is necessary in order to trace (possible) subsequent misuse of the e-mail address of the person concerned and it therefore serves our legal protection. We want to be able to provide you with information that is relevant to you, so we analyse your interest in the contents of the bahn.de/bahn.com newsletter based on clicks and the display of content via customised links.

If you object to your data being used for promotional purposes, your data will only be used anonymously for statistical purposes.

Use of Matomo (formerly Piwik)

We use the Matomo analytics platform (formerly Piwik) on our website in order to analyze how people use the website and how we can improve it. The statistics we gain from this allow us to improve our offering and make it more interesting for users. Small text files (cookies) store information about how you use our website, including your IP address. This data is anonymized and stored on our servers.

The legal basis for the use of Matomo is Art. 6 (1) Clause 1 (f) of the GDPR.

Your deactivation options: if you want to opt out of user behavior analysis, you can configure your browser to refuse analysis cookies at any time. You can also decide whether your browser is allowed to store a unique web analysis cookie to enable the website operator to record and analyze various statistical data.
