We pay a fair and attractive salary. During your first year of vocational training, you will earn approx. EUR 1,300 (gross) a month, and this figure increases annually. In addition, we provide a host of other benefits and operate a company pension scheme.

As a vocational trainee, you are given 16 free journeys within Germany a year. You are also given further travel discounts such as the DB job ticket for your commute to work.

If you have to move because of your vocational training, we can offer you a monthly rent subsidy of up to EUR 350 - under certain conditions. 

Our technical/industrial vocational trainees are also given a tablet at the start of their training. Commercial vocational trainees are given a laptop at the start of their training.

Your vocational training will start with a celebratory welcome and an introductory week, in which you will get to know your instructors, your manager, your colleagues, as well as make new friendships.  

Each vocational trainee is provided with reliable support throughout the vocational training program. During the entire training, fixed contact people from the fields of Training and HR are available to help you.  

We can also offer you numerous seminars which will help you to develop your skills and use new working methods. 

Once you have successfully completed your vocational training, we will offer you an unlimited employment contract in the DB Group.

Build your future as a concrete and reinforced concrete worker.

As a concrete and reinforced concrete worker, you work on exciting, varied, and electrifying new build and conversion projects across all of Germany.

In your three-year vocational training, you will practice reading and working with drawings, as well as formwork drawings, and reinforcement plans. At the same time, you will perform surveying work, as well as construction and underground engineering work. You will accompany the construction gang with the technical implementation of the construction work, and will learn how to operate modern construction machinery.

As a permanent-way worker, you are one of the main figures on every trackwork site in DB Bahnbau Gruppe GmbH. Through the new build and conversion, as well as maintenance and repair of tracks and switches, you contribute to smooth and safe rail operations in Germany and Europe. As an electrical fitter within Electromechanical Engineering, you are the expert for the assembly and installation of systems for power supply technology, control and regulation technology, as well as signaling and lighting technology. This vocational training course lasts three years. During this time, you will learn the latest, high-security techniques for assembling, adjusting and installing switchgear, such as switch settings and lighting systems at railway stations. As a construction equipment operator with an additional qualification in trackwork engineering, you are the “racing driver” at every track building site of DB Bahnbau Gruppe GmbH. You operate the on-track machines of the largest and most modern fleet of on-track machines in Europe. You also clean and tamper the ballast in the track bed, insert new ties and entire rails in a fully automated way, and are also responsible for the maintenance of the technology on site. Your activities will assist the teams laying tracks and installing overhead line, thereby contributing to the safety of rail systems throughout in Germany and Europe. 

During your three-year vocational training, you will acquire basic skills in metal processing, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical engineering. You will also deal with the basics of trackwork and our own on-track machines. You will gain a class B driving license and will become a certified excavator and loader driver. This means you will be able to operate any earth-moving machinery across Germany and Europe.

Our industrial electricians are specialists when it comes to the components and technology used in large construction machines.

During your two-year apprenticeship, you will find out how construct and upkeep track systems. As part of this course, you will get to grips with the essentials, such as the relationship between voltage and current, as well as the basic features of electrical systems and equipment. You will also learn how to install and wire switches, controls and measuring devices, and you will also study how to evaluate technical documents in a professional manner. Accident prevention regulations and occupational safety are also part of the syllabus.

After the first two years, there is an additional year that covers special qualifications, such as sitting your driving test, hydraulics and pneumatics courses and a permit to drive excavators.
